BALTIMORE, Md. (September 13, 2024) – The 2024-25 Morgan State men’s basketball schedule features a strong emphasis on home court advantage during the non-conference slate, with eight games slated to be played within the friendly confines of Hill Field House.
The Bears are poised to tip off their 2024-25 campaign with a home matchup against Frostburg State on Monday, November 4th. This season opener marks the beginning of a challenging 16-game non-conference slate for the Bears, who will look to build momentum under the leadership of their experienced backcourt.
All-MEAC second team selections Will Thomas, a senior guard, and graduate student guard Wynston Tabbs will be key figures for Morgan head coach Kevin Broadus. The duo’s experience and leadership will be crucial as Morgan navigates a demanding early-season schedule, before locking in for conference play.
The Bears have a busy early-season schedule ahead. Following a home matchup against Mercyhurst on November 6th, the Bears will hit the road for a contest at Longwood in Farmville, Virginia (Nov. 9). They’ll then return to Baltimore for a two-game homestand at Hill Field House. The home stretch begins with a game against the University of the District of Columbia (Nov. 12), and concludes with a challenge from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (Nov. 16).
The Bears begin a two-game road test on Nov. 20 when they take on North Carolina A&T, and then journey north to take on the University of Buffalo (Nov. 22).
Morgan will be immersed in a flurry of local rivalries in late November. The action kicks off on November 24th when they welcome crosstown foe Towson University to Hill Field House. Just a few days later, on November 27th, the Bears hit the road to face another Baltimore-area opponent, the UMBC Retrievers. This back-to-back series against familiar foes will be a crucial test early in the season.
The Bears open the month of December with a pair of home contests when they play Central Pennsylvania College (Dec. 1) and Cheyney University of Pennsylvania (Dec. 4).
Morgan travels to the Buckeye State when the Bears square off with Bowling Green (Dec. 7), followed by a trip to Cincinnati to face Xavier University (Dec. 10). After a brief return to Baltimore for a home matchup against Campbell University (Dec. 15), the Bears will hit the road again for a pair of contests to close out the month.
Morgan concludes its regular-season non-conference schedule facing a pair of challenging matchups to close out the year. First, they’ll travel to face the Iowa State (Dec. 22), a test against a Big 12 opponent. Following that, the Bears will take on Big Ten opponent the University of Minnesota on (Dec. 29).
These final non-conference games will serve as crucial measuring stick for Morgan as they prepare for the heart of their conference schedule.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will announce the entire schedule, including league games, in September.
